the friends of the JMDR
Since 2005 the JMDR has been able to count on the support of a group of people – Friends of the JMDR. This non-profit organisation has in the past regularly organised concerts, presentations, performances and other activities to support the work of the museum.
A Word from the Chairman
On 27th January 1945, at about 12.30 p.m. four young Russian soldiers on horseback entered the concentration camp of Auschwitz. Bewildered they gazed embarrassingly at the piles of petrified corpses. Numbed with horror, they appeared, apart from compassion, to be weighed down by a sense of shyness that sealed their lips and transfixed their eyes on the spectacle of death and destruction.
“The Friends” of the JMDR aims to stand by the museum and carry forth the message on behalf of those whose voices have been silenced in the gas chambers.
It is our duty to honour those who have been unjustly subjected to the most inhuman suffering. We are striving for a better world, a world of peace and tolerance.
