In these chronicles Van der Jeught and Jan Meutermans examine, on the basis of documents from the Mechelen City Archives, the presence of christened Jews in Mechelen during the Middle Ages and the Ancien Régime. They discuss the Jodenstraat (Jews Street), its denizens and the names of the houses which reflect the presence of Jewish residents.
